Angels of Secret Generosity, the meaning of Christmas

O Christmas Tree
Photo: Tigner J.

When man gives from the heart, and not grudgingly God will make all grace and blessings abound toward them. 2 Cor. 9: 7-8

What is Christmas

Christmas is a picturesque season of happiness, good cheer to all men and women. It is a festive season when people annually decorate homes with trees, lights, ornaments and front lawns with huge blow up dolls, which really don’t make sense.

Black Friday and Scrooge

There are bright colors, reindeer, some old man in a red suit and an over abundance of God forsaken Christmas sweaters and vest. Christmas is perceived as a time where people “want a whole lot of this and a whole lot of that” while fighting for bargains on Black Friday. Loved ones are bestowed with expensive toys, gadgets and clothes to neatly wrap under a Christmas tree. Before you call me a cold hearted Ebenezer Scrooge please continue reading there is a reason for the season.

Christmas and Christ

Christmas is suppose to represent the Birth of Jesus Christ, the greatest present ever given to mankind, God coming to earth as man atoning our sins. His existence was a journey of teaching humility; how to give, and be a blessing to others yet somewhere along the way got it twisted thinking that our hands should always be on the receiving end. Christmas is a time for praising, singing of songs glorifying His name and most importantly serving our fellow man.

The general public has become numb or even skeptical of extending a helping hand to family let alone strangers until now. During this Christmas season we have witnessed thousands of spectacular incidents of unexplainable altruistic behavior from complete strangers’ nationwide - individuals paying off
lay-a-ways for strangers, to a man in Waycross, Georgia who bought $500 worth of McDonald’s gift cards - in $25 increments to distribute to needy families.

This kind gesture inspired the McDonald’s owner, Brian Fey, to match the donation by giving half the gift cards to the Pierce County Food Bank and half to a local homeless shelter. Paying it forward, random acts of kindness are actions which really embody the true spirit of Christmas and should transcend beyond one month but include 365 days a year. Giving can be contagious!

Jesus Christ told his followers it’s more blessed to give than to receive. He also stated for with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Luke 6:38.  Sorrowfully, we often hoard God’s possessions opposed to giving to those in need. Contrary to popular belief, all things under the sun belong to God; he has blessed us with custodianship of earthly belongings we so often times cherish. Looking back over 2011, we had good times, faced some bad, and not to forget many blessings. I challenge you to take on the “I can’t help it disease” and begin showing random acts of kindness in 2012 and beyond by making yourself available as a giving vessel to others. Take time to recognize God’s blessings in your life and pass the blessings forward!   With your new mindset of giving, who can you bless today?

I Love Music and so does God!

Make a joyful noise
A Jazzy Image: Tigner J.

Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord all you Lands!  Psalm 100:1

There are over 1500 references of some form of music mentioned in the bible with words like: melody, hymn, instrument, psalm, harp, lyre, trumpet, horn, and voice.  A prominent Pastor was asked why he always whistled Andy Griffin show theme music. His response, since he could not sing; it was a happy tune which allowed him to praise God.  Biblical references note that instruments where used to praise and worship God so much so David, a musician, scribed one hundred and fifty chapters of Psalms with liner notes notating their purpose, how to arrange and which instruments best complimented them. The Gospel of Mathew records Jesus and the disciples finished Passover with singing as they went to the Garden of Gethsemane. Music is everywhere!

Music is a composition of imagination in the form of notes which produce a melodic sound intertwined with, syncopated rhythm which compels one to sing, dance, laugh, or cry.  Songs can make a soul merry, cure pains; a merry heart is like medicine but a broken spirit dries the bones.  A piece of music is timeless withstanding the test of time; it is a lover, a peacemaker, which can tame the cry of a baby or sooth the rage of a savage beast. When God created the world, the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy Job 38:7. Is it safe to say God loves music?

Many are blessed with a gift of music through song, dance, and instrumentation. Use that gift just as the little drummer boy, who had no gift to bring yet he could play for the new born King, Sing to God a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy in everything you do. I love music, any kind of music both instrumental and vocals from its many variations down to an artist’s interpretation of a gospel standard. Like many of us who cannot play sing, or dance, find your gift of music in your soul enjoy it but also find a way to Praise the one God who sits high and looks down low.  Shout joyfully to the Lord all the earth, break out in song, rejoice, and sing praises because music is life that can stir the soul. Let the music play and take you away!

I'm So Crazy

Popperfoto collection: Albert Einstein

Don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.  Mathew 6:30

“Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”  ― Albert Einstein

Life making us crazy

“I didn't know enough I just had too much on my mind, does that make me crazy?”

All have experienced this place of temporary insanity, brought to us by love, family, friends, jobs (lack of a job), and even material things. Just name a poison and there you will find a whirlwind of mental chaos: 99 problems pushing you close to the edge, you are trying not to lose your head, but does this make you crazy?

Stop worrying

Jesus posed a question to the community, “is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?”  Can any of you add an inch to your head by worrying? Even today, life’s rat race has one moving so fast often times not knowing if you are coming or going, overwhelmed with insurmountable pain which infiltrates logical thinking, easy tasks become challenging, stress and worry tag along ultimately causing health issues.  You are so crazy  - worrying like idolaters!

Worry can cause mental illness

A dear friend from school has reached a point in life where he has encountered this madness, a coherent mind succumbed to illusions pure divine craziness - mentally and physically -  no one knows his whereabouts. One minute home thinking about working next walking the streets, he “gotta see a doctor because he thinks Scotty is calling beam me up!”

Economic mental melt down

The state of America’s economy, without notice, can cause us to experience, a slight mental meltdown, a bit of craziness of sorts. Though man’s mind is vast and capable of doing virtually anything we have to also learn letting go and letting God is a good thing when life is out of our control.  There is a thin line between sanity and insanity and a wide canyon between self-control and God control.

Despair has affected all in some way - foreclosures, lost jobs, family crisis, hopes and dreams vanished. What do you do when facing these problems?  God knows what you want and need, however seek the Kingdom of God first and his righteousness and all other things will follow.

When your heart is overwhelmed with pessimism shout - "hear my cry O God," attend to my prayer for He is a shelter, a strong tower when chaos rises.
You can not always control how you feel, nevertheless listen to your inner spirit let go of all your faults, defects or shortcomings lay them on the alter let God’s word flow through, His Spirit not only moves it removes  otherwise these things will make you crazy!

What if God acted like Parents?

Image: Tigner J.

Will the Lord wait, that He may be gracious unto you and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you. Isaiah 30:18

A Parent's advice

Parents [Adults] we have bestowed antidotes of life to children, yet for some reason kids opt not to pursue our advice. You know the scenario: child is confronted with decisions in school, you provide wisdom to rectify situation.  As days turn into months procrastination has taken residents in child’s mind. Such situations are played out daily in households, making parents [adults] frustrated, angry vowing to let child bump their own head, ‘experience is the best teacher’.

It goes without saying, parents [adults] want the best and will do anything for their offspring but children can turn a parent’s happy heart into a sorrowful one based on actions or a lack thereof. Within a person’s reach are a host of reasons garnering negative results: fear, doubt, nonchalant attitude, or immaturity.   How do you react when confronted with a wavering loved one not performing to their full potential? Do you continue encouraging, coaching, get mad, scream until blue in the face, sling insulting words or turn your back and walk away?

Getting on God's nerves

What if God acted like parents [adults]: “this child is getting on my nerves; I’m so mad I don’t know what to do! Why is it so hard for this child to understand?” “You are too old to make such dumb decisions,” what is on your mind that you cannot remember to follow through and make it happen!” Without an education you are wasting your talent and your life! .We all have heard or spoke these very words one time or another.

I’m so grateful God is nothing like parents [adults], not turning His back each time we don’t listen, or follow His guidance scribe in the Bible. God’s behavior is not like our behavior and thoughts not like ours:  He is not quick to anger; He is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. God waits for us to Humble ourselves, that He may lift us up in due time. He desires that we cast all anxiety on Him.  Yet, time and time again people walk away from God’s extended hand, by Edging God Out based on our own understanding. From our actions, we constantly tell the Father we got this; in return He smiles and waits.  Likewise, parents [adults] we need to take the same attitude as our Heavenly Father does, be patient kind, not quick to anger.  Call unto the Lord in prayer and He will answer and tell you great unsearchable things you do not know. Jer. 33:3 by example, parents [adults] practice waiting on your children just as the LORD must wait for us to come to Him so He can show us His love and compassion. For the LORD is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for His help Isaiah 30:18. because God’s love, mercy, grace, is forever covering us and its great God do not act like parents [adults] for if He did we would be in trouble!

The homeless can Give the Power of Prayer

Homeless
Then peter said silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you in the name of Jesus Christ.  Acts 3:6

How to deal with Homeless people

Raise your hand if you have come upon a homeless person asking for money, food, or some far fetched plea.  According to National Alliance to end Homelessness[i], on any given night, in America more than 750,000 people are homeless. Over the course of a year, an additional 2.5 million will temporarily live either on the streets or in emergency shelters. Though many panhandlers could be swindlers attempting to con another victim, I have learned to remove self judgment and base my response on how the Holy Spirit leads me regarding their request.

A Lesson from a homeless person

Recently, at a stop light, I witnessed a woman who appeared to be homeless based on tattered clothes, unclean appearance, and sores covering her face and hands.  Making her way to each vehicle, it appeared no one supplied any donations. Me being the next car in the long procession, I lowered my window and before she could utter a word, “I don’t have anything” blurted from my mouth.  Realizing in hindsight, unlike previous encounters I responded before being asked.  To my dismay this woman had a prophetic comeback to my quick witted answer; “yes, you do have something to give the power of prayer!”

Driving off dumbfound, the story of a lame man at the beautiful came to mind, Acts 3:1-9 where Peter told the man money he had not but he did have Jesus.  I also recalled Paul’s charge to the Romans to behave like Christians by letting love be without hypocrisy, be kind to others with brotherly love and steadfastly pray Thes 5:12-18.  I’ve heard sermons and read these aforementioned stories on many occasions with intent to implement in a way to bless someone along my journey.  My brief visit was a prime opportunity to put words into action, yet I missed my cue to empower or pray for this lady. I allowed my carnal mind to lead me astray.

The Power of prayer

For days, “you have the power of prayer” lingered in my mind and raised questions. Are my prayers self-centered? Do I pray enough for the indigent as well as others? Is praying effective?  Just as too many ask is their praying in vain? No of course not! Prayer does change things. Prayer is powerful; it can alter situations affecting an individual to world changing issues.  Prayer, no matter how small once it reaches God it does not fall on death ear it will manifest, especially when people learn to touch and agree together through prayer, when two or three come together in His name he is among them Matt. 18:20.

I charge you to try God [again] through prayer not asking for things that can rust or corrupt but be like Solomon ask for wisdom to discern between good and evil, I Kings 3:9 pray for others well being, ask for a forgiving spirit,  filled with joy, peace, and love.  For many claim to be Christ like yet when given opportunities such as mine they also fail.  During our life journey we all will stumble upon more situations of: homeless people, co-workers, strangers, or family members partitioning for help in spite the fact money you have not. Remember to give them what you do have in the name of Jesus.   As for the unfortunate lady, I watched through my rear view mirror as she made her way along the road seeking other benevolent givers. As space separated us, I could hear her last directive:  “pray for me and others too because we all need prayer.”

Expecting the Unexpected

Photo: Don Farrell
God sequestered Samuel to select Israel’s next king from the sons of Jesse.  The Lord told Samuel not to look at their appearance or height because he would refuse them. (I Samuel 16:7)  God’s choice was David who was younger, smaller and in stature the weakest.  God’s selection was nothing Jesse or his seven sons expected for the Lord does not see as man does. Based on Old Testament literature, the Jewish people anticipated the coming of a Messiah to Bethlehem (John 7:42).  The unexpected birthplace of Nazareth was nowhere on the radar causing Jewish leaders to fight Jesus’ claim as Son of God.  The Bible also tells of a certain rich ruler (Mark 10:17-22) who had practiced the Ten Commandments since youth, asked Jesus how he could inherit eternal life. Jesus’ ‘UNEXPECTED’ answer to give away all possessions to the poor made this ruler very sorrowful.  In these examples, people had expected one response. God’s unexpected answer blew their mind and altered their outcome.

At one time or another we all have thought like Jesse, Jewish Leaders or the ruler, albeit goals, dreams or desires of the heart our anticipated results did not happen in a logical manner and in some cases has not manifested yet. We expect the prayer answered as requested, yet in most cases God’s reply was completely different, yet better than ever anticipated.  One observation learned in my long journey of growing with Christ, I had to prepare my mind as well as spirit to expect the unexpected.  Looking back over my life, there was a time I had aspirations of publishing a glossy magazine. There was no question if it could not be done nor if I could do all things through Christ, yet on many occasions during this solo quest, my mother asked “are you praying, seeking God’s will and asking Him to guide and direct your steps? After many years of deliberating over these statements, I can honestly say no.  “. In the mist of it all, there was a personal attempt to do it on my own; edging God out of the situation. I have now learned to include God in all endeavors good or bad.

My testimony today, over the years though one prayed, cried, questioned God and even doubted He was paying me any attention I discovered He was.  What was envisioned as pitfalls were actually lessons which has manifested into something greater than I never dreamt.  God has provided a platform via the internet to help others through my ministry of writing. I have humbled myself immensely over the years, allowing me to overcome what was perceived as lost. Years ago I was a failure because of not reaching my desire; I was not ready nor connected with God. However, at this juncture in life; God has placed me where I need to be.

We all pray asking for the desires of our heart yet on the other hand, we have never asked God to set us up for what He has in store. In your mind, what desires has God ignored? Remember, our expectations limit God.  Man’s restricted thinking locks us in and God out.  Loosen the bondage that entraps your faith. Pray and ask God to remove obstacles, allow God to prepare you, reach you in unexpected ways. I can promise when you connect with God’s spirit he will revile what is in store for you.  It will be bigger and better than ever dreamt. Expect the unexpected.

Does God Still Perform Miracles? Luck or Divine Intervention

Photo Justin Allfree

God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.  Hebrews 2:4

Luck or God's intervention

Is being in the right place at the right time luck or divine intervention from God? A woman’s near miss with a train, is it a coincidence, that she survived or something short of a miracle?  People who witness unexplainable spectacular incidents often question whether they were acts of God or a fluke?

I believe, God is working daily all around us at home, work, and hospitals, he is forever performing significant wonders directly in our lives for all to see. With the aide of Cyberspace and cable television, these mediums are capable of broadcasting inexplicable encounters; though heart warming a person either confirms or denies them as miracles.

Real miracles today

Jesus performed countless miracles; people were amazed all while questioned his authenticity as being the Son of God or just a man with magical powers Acts 2:22.

This week, while skimming various headlines, I ran across two incidents, which could classify as wonders and signs from heaven above.  Take for example, Jordan Landon, a 9-year-old North Carolina girl who survives two days in car wreckage despite the fact her father died.  A person walking by saw the car off the state highway and called 911.   How about the Minnesota State Trooper who happens to be following a car that careened into freezing water.  The trooper jumped in and was able to save Sophia Eversvik who had a seizure. Were these occasions the presence of the Lord or people being in the right place at the right time?

The Israelites witnessed Moses parting the Red Sea, they still doubted if God would sustain and keep them during their journey.  Likewise, people today are no different from the Israelites, after the luster wears of a miracle, those with little faith in a divine power will go back to their normal way of being doubtful. One of the greatest miracles ever performed was God coming to earth as the Man, Jesus Christ who died for our sins. Yet many chose not to believe and follow.

A hero for Christ

In life, we all will travel great distances yet never know what we are going to come across.  Sure, God can and will perform miracles until the end of time, and there will be countless individuals who will experience them first hand, like Ali Johnson, who thanks God almighty for enabling him to help others, A hero striking twice in two weeks! In lieu of more miracles by God Almighty, society needs to believe in the miracle of salvation of Jesus Christ.  This miracle will be everlasting. Moreover, despite the heartaches or struggles one may face this miracle of salvation can endure all pain.  It starts with acceptance of Jesus Christ as your savior and the growth and development of walking in faith.

Learn to make yourself available as a vessel, take time to recognize God’s hand in your life you never know when it is your time to be or receive a miracle.  In addition, remember, miracles are not always grand in size, they can come in small packages, like finding a twenty-dollar bill tucked away in a pair of pants.

After accepting Christ as your savior in your life, remember it is a life long journey. Make sure you find a good bible based church and surround yourself with people who will nurture your growth.  For you see, though you are an adult you are now babes in Christ; so will you cannot not eat steak right away

Reframing from Anger: Character of the new man

Photo: Grove Pashley
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, James 1:19

When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise. Proverb 10:19

Taking another look at anger, the most misunderstood emotion; it’s safe to say anger is a debilitating disorder destroying adult males in countless households. An innumerable about of men identify daily within their minds with the perception of being offended thus leading to some form of retaliation. All too often, these mental conflicts trigger a rage toward men, women and children. This outburst is typically caused by but not limited to work, (the lack there of), disagreements, or the emasculation of men by women.

The editorial, “Change the Pain Make it your Gain,” by CEO Munson Steed, touched upon how men have to learn to “defy anger and become a game changer”. In my opinion, to become a changer of the game, people cannot converse with “if that where me I would do this” type of friends but learn to associate with positive and Godly folk. Discover how to put away anger, evil speaking and learn to be kind to one another Eph. 4:31-32. One contributing factor to the root cause of anger is a deficiency of communication between men. This hoarding of a man’s anguish can lead to aggression which can ultimately “land you in an orange jumpsuit.”

There are steps to formulating new characteristics which can enable men to put on tender mercies of kindness and humbleness. Contrary to popular belief, displaying such attributes is manlier that most would want to accept as true.

The mis-education of all the aforementioned barriers for men has darkened their understanding causing them to be alienated from the life of God; Eph. 4:18, end result hardening of hearts thus leading to anger.

By implementing and incorporating the following tips they can aid in healing as well as maintaining a healthier life.

1. Develop a relationship with God: Let the word of Christ dwell in you Col. 3:14

2. Aspire to have healthy and Godly conversation with brothers in need, learn to forgive and grow: Realize that ‘Real Men’ are not Superman; they do cry, feel pain, and cannot leap tall buildings in a single bound.

3. Stop judging or speaking evil of one another James 4:11: These are negative enablers lead to angry outburst and disagreements

4. Form a support group of men: When two or three gather in the name of Jesus, he is present. In the process teach, console, and don’t be afraid to sing and praise God during group sessions.

If anger situations have escalated to being volatile, with you or someone you love please seek professional counseling.

One thing stands true for all men; they need encouraging supporters in their corner. By having devoted advocates, this provides a man with an outlet to release pain and anger so it will not become bottled up within. Brothers, break the bondage of your mind, learn to release positive energy, be confident, talk with other men, and rebuke anger that dwells inside us all. By doing so, it can lead to a happier and healthier life that women as well as children could enjoy.

A Heavy Day: the passing of Heavy D.... Jesus & Death the Last Enemy

Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment. Hebrews 9:27

Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. Mahatma Gandhi

The overweight lover - Heavy D & the Boyz

A Heavy Day

The world mourns Heavy D (Dwight Arrington Myers.) The master of influential, inspiring, positive, non-woman degrading rap music is gone.  A total shock to fans and music industry of his sudden passing.

What a difference a day can make

As the word spread of his death, people expressed their shock and disbelief with hopes that this was some publicity rumor. Those close to Heavy D, such as my classmate, Avery O. Williams, spoke of his last conversation of how they joked and talked like brothers. “There was no expectation, nor even a grain of thought that 24 hours later we wouldn't be talking sh** again, forever”

He will Rise again

When Mary and Martha experienced the death of their brother Lazarus it came as a total shock. They felt if their best friend, Jesus, would have been there, Lazarus would not have died John 11:21, 32. When death engulfs our minds it’s hard to process. We question and try to make sense of it. We often get angry with God as to why people die “before their time.” Such is the case  with Heavy D and Mary's feelings over Lazarus’ early demise. As mourning passes, the thought of death slowly vanishes, until it rises again. What is often overlooked is Jesus statement, which also applies to us all, Lazarus (Heavy D.) will raise again.

The after life

Most people attempt to live life completely, upright and moral so that when death comes like a thief in the night they will  ascend up to heaven with Christ. Not surprising, many people don’t believe this ideology nor in Jesus. I urge all to be careful of the unexpected trap when death comes; hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness along with anxieties of life. The answer and best preparation for death is summed up in John 11:25-26 where Jesus stated whoever believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.

Say Yes today

When the shadows of death come we will be caught off guard. I hope and pray that those reading this believe in Heaven, the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. So much so that when it is time to give up the ghost there is no fear as to where you will be heading heaven not hell. If there is some doubt in your mind, I extend to you today an opportunity to accept Christ as your Savior so that you to can see and experience the true glory of God!

Another Voice in the Choir

Be merciful to me, LORD, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and body with grief. My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak.  Psalms 31:9-10

Heading to a doctor’s appointment I crossed paths and spoke to a tender natured old lady in the corridor; I acknowledged in my typical manner “all is well”. Her quick response back was “that is good because no one would listen if you where complaining.” As we walked, the conversation continued, as this noble lady told me a story of a prisoner who professed his innocence until arriving to prison. Once in the hallowed walls of confinement he found that every prisoner claimed their innocence too. Though the man knew he was not guilty, the grumbling stopped after discovering he was just another voice in the choir.

God’s word tells us not to swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. As the victim in this story, who claimed his innocence, there are times when regardless how truthful one is it can land a person a guilty verdict. We also know that Jesus was falsely accused and did not commit a crime yet he was crucified. So it is safe to assume through life, we are not immune from lies, conviction, or some form of character assassination. The Lord is a fortress in adversity; either stand on His word or become another complaining voice in the choir.

Not too long ago the world witnessed Georgia Prison inmate Troy Davis who song to the highest courts in the nation that he was innocent. In contrast Troy’s conviction enabled others to join his chorus all singing for justice being serviced. When facing perplexed times opposed to kicking up a fuss by complaining, pray and seek God for direction which can bring peace to your soul. Learn to sing praises of joy regardless your predicament and not tunes of grief during your misery. See your situation as the glass of water half full or half empty either way, take a stance as did Troy Davis who continued to fight his fight of innocence until his last breath. Though you maybe in the pit, God have kept you a live! The take away from both stories is to recognize we have to stand on God’s word, even if the end result may mean death, like Troy Davis.

Is The Mirror A True Reflection of You?

Man in the mirror
I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

IT FEELS GOOD TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND KNOW I AM WORTHY OF EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING I DESIRE.” – Unknown

When looking in the mirror do you like what you see? Does the looking-glass reflect a person full of joy, a strong self-assured individual capable of conquering all or perhaps you see so called flaws and blemishes? Do you get mad and search the abyss in your mind for change or simply sulk and do nothing? What ever seen I do believe God and the man in the mirror hold the key to change.

At one point in life we have all stared at our reflected images trying to find answers of questions; how this happened, why certain decisions where made and the infamous what’s in the future? We also turn our heads pretending, like Alice in Wonderland, that fantasy is reality. I recall as a child how I would peer into double reflections of mirrors in dressing rooms trying to see beyond the double exposed likeness of me. The illusion of an infinite image was fascinating. It was endless seeming to be everlasting!

The mirror can tell a lot about yourself; it displays character, emotions, feelings and it forces you to examine self. Mirrors allow you to converse with self while brushing your teeth or just being plain silly; make funny faces or cry to release pain. Mirrors are silent partners that permit us to self-diagnose the gray hair, weight, why teeth are crooked, where did those pimples come from, should you pop or attempt to cover them up? Whatever your personal perception; be it negative, positive, vain, superficial, vibrant or withdrawn you where created in the likeness of God which means you are ruler of all creatures and further more a conqueror who can do all things through Christ which strengthens you. However, to achieve and receive one has to first believe. To begin this new dawning it starts with the Man in the Mirror by making up one’s mind to do so.

Mirror, mirror on the wall reveals that you are the best! This animate object can provide truthful answers provided you step back and take a look at yourself in a full length mirror. When dressing in your Sunday’s Best, examine self from head to toe and realize that “When one door of happiness closes, another opens”. [Helen Keller]. In life, we have looked so long in cracked mirrors and at closed doors, that we do not see the obvious clear image. With an understanding that you will look long and hard one can see and feel like a million bucks. The spirit of God is in you providing strength to do all things. It all starts with the man in the mirror so make that change.

Angry and stirring up dissension

Whoso is slow to anger [is] of great understanding, And whoso is short in temper is exalting folly Proverbs 14:29

Anger is the most misunderstood human emotion. Anger can cause people to block their feelings or lash out with aggression. I’m not a psychiatric consultant but it appears many suffer from anger based on circumstances, self-pity, being mistreated, or just mad at the world. I have to also believe another contributing factor is people placing trust in material things, intangible desires and jobs. When life runs amuck, people look for someone to blame and release their rage.

The mindset of countless Americans is complacency in life, be it good or bad. Opposed to stepping out in faith and taking God’s word to heart, they rely on others, government or jobs as their lifeline and when corporations shut down, or lay-off employees, anger positions itself in those who feel let down. In such situations, betrayed individuals become enraged thus triggering their bundled emotions to fester into increased Alcohol and drug usage as well as other forms of aggression which can lead to slaying employers, co-workers, snuffing family members out as well as taking their own life all in the name of anger.

Through out the Old Testament God had plenty to be boiling with rage, yet he always found a way to be compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding with love and faithfulness. Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires James 1:19-20. In total contrast of what God spoke and Jesus preached, society has relied upon their own knowledge for so long many have turned their back on God. They have become complacent with life/jobs until havoc knocks them down and anger creeps into the spirit. What is really needed is an orchestrated effort of doubters to visit with the one doctor who can cure all infirmities; Jesus the Christ.

God clearly tells us not to lean up on our own understandings or depend on others but place our trust in the Trinity: God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. When we deviate from this source there is destined to be chaos. Disgruntled souls filled with hopelessness seek all forms of anger relievers, everything accept the main source Jesus Christ. I venture to say if people would take time to crack open God’s medical book call the bible, meditate upon on his word a lot of wrath can be eradicated. Stop banking on your own knowledge, placing faith in man, jobs, and material things but into the one who created all, God!  It’s a daily work in progress to be in God’s will and to overcome anger. Trust in His word, allow God to show you His ways and direct your path based on his truth!

I encourage all to seek God, pray, call upon his name and develop a relationship. Stop letting the days of your life pass you by because of anger, get up get out and do something stop letting the days of your life pass you by!
