Responding Like Christ

Good Morning!
Every single day, we are tested. Not with grand, dramatic trials, but with small, ordinary moments that reveal who we truly are. How we respond to these moments is a real testament to our Christianity.

It is easy—far too easy—to react in the flesh, to snap back, to “get somebody told,” or to match someone’s attitude with our own. But Christ calls us to something higher.

Take this morning, for example. I stopped at a fast‑food restaurant to ask about their breakfast special. Usually, they offer two‑for‑one, so I simply asked what the deal was. The young lady tried to explain it, but I wasn’t understanding her. Suddenly, the manager jumped on the speaker with an irritated tone, as if my confusion was an inconvenience. I calmly replied, “Why are you mad at me? I just don’t understand your menu.” She tried again to explain, and I said nothing more. When I pulled up to the window, I simply told her, “Have a great day.”

Not even a minute later, I stopped at a gas station to grab a cup of ice. The cashier smiled and said, “Don’t worry about it—it’s free today.” Two completely different encounters, back‑to‑back. One tested my patience; the other reminded me that kindness still exists.

Both moments preached the same sermon: respond in a Christ‑like manner.

Not because people deserve it, but because God deserves the glory.

We don’t control how others act, but we absolutely control how we respond. And when we choose grace over attitude, peace over pettiness, and love over retaliation, we reflect the character of Christ.

Today, let your responses preach louder than your words. Let your attitude be your testimony.
