The Things God Hates

Good Morning!
Scripture does not leave us guessing about God’s heart. Proverbs 6:16–19 lists seven things the Lord hates: haughty eyes, lying tongues, hands that shed innocent blood, hearts that devise wicked plans, feet quick to run to evil, false witnesses, and those who sow discord. These are not ancient problems; they are painfully present in our world today.

The sad truth is that these behaviors are not limited to “the culture” or the “carnal world.” Many believers have slipped into the very patterns God warns us to avoid.

Lying has become casual—from government offices to everyday households. Pride is celebrated as confidence. Humility is treated like weakness. Love has taken a backseat while wicked schemes ride in the front. Stone hearts find it easier to plot harm than to extend grace.

So how do we fix this?

We begin by looking inward. Transformation starts with honest repentance. We cannot uproot what we refuse to acknowledge. When we confess our pride, our harsh words, our secret motives, God meets us with mercy and the power to change.

Next, we must choose to walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5 reminds us that the works of the flesh produce chaos, but the fruit of the Spirit produces life. Every day we decide which voice we follow. The Spirit leads us toward truth, humility, compassion, and unity.

Finally, we must practice love intentionally. Love is not passive; it is a discipline. It requires slowing down, listening, forgiving, and choosing peace even when conflict feels justified.

If we want a different world, we must become different people. Let us reject what God hates and embrace what reflects His heart. May our lives shine with truth, humility, and love.
