Stop Judging. Show Compassion

Good Morning!
One of the greatest problems quietly weakening the church today is a spirit of self‑centeredness wrapped in judgment. It’s subtle, but it shows up in the way we look at people, talk about people, and decide who is “worthy” of grace.

Simon the Pharisee believed Jesus was a prophet (Luke 7:39), yet his dinner invitation wasn’t about honoring Christ, it was about elevating himself. His heart was closed, even while his hands appeared open.

The same spirit still slips into the church. We see modern-day Pharisees who lift their hands in worship but lower their eyes in judgment when an “obvious sinner” walks through the door. We forget who Jesus spent His time with. He didn’t sit with the self‑righteous. He sat with the broken, the rejected, the overlooked. Jesus showed compassion to the outcasts, not the ones who believed they were already spiritually polished.

Matthew 25 reminds us that compassion is not optional, it is evidence of our relationship with Christ. When we feed the hungry, comforted the hurting, or show kindness to the forgotten, Jesus says we are doing it unto Him. But when we judge, dismiss, or ignore those in need, we miss Christ’s guidance entirely.

The truth is simple: we are all sinners. None of us could ever pay God enough to cover our failures. Yet He forgave us freely, fully, and joyfully. If God has shown us that kind of mercy, how can we withhold it from others?

Today, choose compassion over criticism. Choose grace over gossip. Choose love over labels.

When we stop judging and start loving, we look a little more like Jesus, and the world desperately needs that.

The Man on the Bench

Good Morning!
He sat on the worn wooden bench like a monument carved by time. One could tell he was a tall man by the way his frame folded into the seat. His jawline was square and sunken, the kind that had weathered storms without complaint. A salt‑and‑pepper beard framed his face, and though his eyes were hidden behind darkened shades, the world knew why — he wore blindness like a quiet badge.

His expression was fixed on an invisible horizon, staring into an abyss only he could see. His hands rested on his knees, they were callused, scarred, and missing three digits. These were the hands of a working man, a man who had given more than life ever returned. Yet even in his stillness, there was a dignity that could not be stolen. He looked like a man, life had taken apart piece by piece, but God saw a man He was still putting together.

We often judge ourselves by what we’ve lost, our strength, vision, opportunities, relationships, time. We sit on our own benches, replaying the moments that cost us something. But God does not measure us by missing pieces. He measures us by the heart that remains.
This man, let’s call him Trinity Jacobs, reminds us that the world sees scars, but God sees stories.

The world sees blindness, but God sees insight.

The world sees a broken man, but God sees a vessel ready to be filled again.

Maybe you, too, feel weathered. Maybe life has taken something from you. But hear this: God has never needed perfect pieces to do perfect work. He only needs a willing heart.

Today, sit still long enough for God to remind you He sees you fully, loves you completely, and can use you powerfully, even from the bench.

Prayer:
Lord, remind me that You see beyond my scars, my losses, and my limitations. Strengthen my heart where life has worn me down, and help me trust that You are still shaping my story. Use me, even from the benches of life, for Your glory. Amen.

Get rid of the robe, stop judging others

Read: John 8:1-12

You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:5

Good Morning!
Based on our beliefs, we tend to judge others hastily. Criticism of strangers, friends, spouses, siblings, and even children is something we readily engage in without hesitation. Continuously criticized, a person can begin to make them feel worthless as criticism drains their motivation and strength.

We do wear a robe of judgment, though most will not admit to it. In John 8:1-12, the story of the sinful woman portrays an entire community assuming the roles of judge, jury, and deity regarding this woman's actions seen as "sinful." These people quickly wanted to stone this woman. They never took one minute to think of their issues of sin. Jesus asked them several times, "He who is among you who has not sinned throw the first stone."

As sinners, it is easy for us to forget our shortcomings and how we have fallen short of God's Glory. While we are quick to notice the speck in someone else's eye, we often fail to see the log in our eye.

Get rid of the judgmental robe.  “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you (Matthew 7:1-2).

Let us learn to get rid of the robe of judgment. Let us stop finding fault in others but if possible how can we help them to become better in a Christ-like way?

Jesus, aware that the woman was a sinner, He forgave her sins. We need to display more love, compassion, and forgiveness while being less judgmental of others.  Let us Get rid of the robe of judgment and do not judge or plan to be judged.
