Seeing the End Before the Beginning

Good Morning! 

Sometimes we must see ourselves as the person we want to become before we can ever walk fully in that place. Many of us carry dreams and God-given desires, yet we struggle because we can’t clearly see how the story ends. 

Faith often requires us to move forward without the full picture, trusting God’s vision more than our own.

Along the way, God may place people in our lives who help equip us for where we are headed. It might look simple, like being given a suit when you’re believing for a better job. You may not have the position yet, but the attire prepares you to show up as the person you’re becoming, not the person you’ve been. That gift isn’t just fabric; it’s a sign that provision often comes before promotion.

Spiritually, the same truth applies. We pray, we believe, and we ask God for direction or breakthrough, but when the answer doesn’t appear immediately, doubt can creep in. Daniel 10 gives us powerful insight into this process. Daniel prayed and fasted, and God heard his prayer from the very first day. However, the answer was delayed because there was spiritual resistance - the “prince of Persia” withstood the messenger until angelic reinforcement arrived. The delay was not God ignoring Daniel; it was evidence that something significant was unfolding behind the scenes.

This teaches us that heaven responds immediately, even when earth doesn’t reflect it yet. Our role is to keep believing, keep walking, and keep seeing the end God promised. 

As Christians, we are called to receive by faith and align our minds with God’s finished work.

Whatever you are facing today, see the outcome through faith. Live like it’s already done. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Team Jesus – are you wearing the jersey?

You are on a team!

READ: Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

You are on a team

Realize it our not, we all are members of a team – work, school, organizations, and church.  A team is “a number of persons associated in some joint action.” The downside, everyone is not full participants. They love the fringe benefits, even winning, but don’t care for the work and effort required to win.

Wearing your team jersey

Surprising to some, marriage is a team. One way to win or make this union (team) successful is by supporting a spouse’s dreams. This means jointing their “dream team” and also wearing their jersey.  Recently on OWN TV program - Iyanla, Fix My Life - retired NFL player Bob Whitfield stated his ex-wife was never on his team. She was not his cheerleader nor did she support him. During home games she was just there – never adorning his jersey or dreaming any of his dreams.

Upholding a spouse’s jersey is a form of solidarity. It also encourages, uplifts and motivates. Especially during the times when it don’t make sense and when the team is loosing! When these components are missing it raises the question are you own my team or just a fair-weather fan waiting to receive the accolades?

Team Jesus

The most important team is Team Jesus – where everyone has a significant role to perform. Jesus Team is no different than any other.  There is an expectation from us all.  It is not just praying, asking, seeking, and knocking for self fulfillment it requires being fully committed to Team Jesus.  Questionable team members typically call on The Lord when in need oppose to being in the trenches working (training) through the pain, when life is hard (loosing) and appears to be unfair.  Working (faith) during the hard times is defines you as a team player. So what team are you on? Are you just a half-hearted team member showing up when things are great?

Team practice

It requires practice (faith) to win with families and Team Jesus.

• Families – Two is better than one because they have a good return on their labor. You have to workout (supporting one another) even when it is not fun.

• Team Jesus – The training is not easy. You will face trials and tribulations as you train but continue praising and praying. This race is not for the swift Eccl 9:11 nor the faint at heart.

Throughout your life training you will grow tired, weary stumble and fall.  But continue pressing forward supporting one another and you will come out victorious.

What’s in your hand? God gave you something

“What if they do not believe me or listen to me. Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” A staff, he replied. Exodus 4:1-2

Questioning God

God has blessed me yet I question my abilities. Words of wisdom flow from my mind to finger tips.  They transmit over the world-wide-web. Wrestling with God – pardon your servant, Lord I am an unlikely messenger. Never been eloquent, to me I am slow and ill-equipped. Satan has mastered to unlock my Pandora’s Box fueling doubt and inadequate abilities.

What has God placed in your hands?

Sunday’s sermon focused on Exodus chapter four and what God had placed in Moses hand – a staff.  Like Moses many of us find ourselves questioning God and not using our gifts. “We sit on our hands and don’t realize what God has placed in them.” Instead of moving as God required Moses pointed out his imperfections – stuttering – and why he was the imperfect messenger. Oppose to trusting and following God’s lead he found reasons to recede.

My gift is writing – thoughts ebb and flow daily. But I see inefficiencies. This self inflected judging turned into a horror movie causing paralyses in the membrane. I find myself stranded on an island of despair wanting to quit. My conscious reinforce my theory - “No one cares about what you write, you are wasting your time stop writing.”

What has God placed in your hand? What stumbling blocks have you set in your way? Transform the mind, stop sitting on your hands and begin to press forward in God’s vision for you.

•  If it is Prophesying – prophesy
• If it is Serving – serve
• If it is Teaching – teach
• If it is Encouraging – encourage
• If it is Giving – give generously

           

God is bigger than your problem

The Preacher’s words prodded me – God is bigger than the quandary so often played in my mind. I realized my quest for perfection is not needed. God has provided everything – the visions, people, as well as supplies to complete all assignments. There should be no worries.

Regardless of weakness and disabilities there is nothing impossible for God. Moses was reminded “Who gave human beings their mouth who gives them sight” Exodus 4:11-12.  As for me – the imperfect servant – Sunday’s sermon reassured God is with me, He will guide me. I am fully equipped. I just need to believe!

If Only... Life's missed Opportunities

Bear in mind Apostle Paul who thought the throne in his side impeded him from doing more for Christ. God saw it differently, “my grace is sufficient for you, my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Cor. 12:7-10. Moses was yet another who requested God to remove his infliction. Why wouldn’t a sovereign God help Moses during his time of need? God had granted him powers to do all things along with the ability to let Pharaoh see he was sent by God. Despite it all God did not take away the one thing Moses thought would inhibit him from doing his best. Moses had a speech impediment, he stuttered. Exodus 4: 10 God’s grace is sufficient.


People frequently complain that their goals and objectives cannot be accomplished due to stumbling blocks, health issues or impairments. Repeatedly they preface situations or misfortunes with two words ‘If only’. These two ineffectual words have become habitual, causing a lack of success and giving people a reason not to follow through on goals, careers, dreams and desires in life.

I’ve come to present some remarkable people who beat the odds and did not allow their mishaps keep them from reaching their zenith in life.

Melssa Stockwell

Take for example Army 1st Lt. Melissa Stockwell who lost her leg in the Iraq War. She has done her greatest work with one leg. During rehabilitation she embraced swimming and focused on something different. She stated it "made me feel more like myself." So apposed to drowning in self pity Melissa became a world class amputee swimmer breaking records with the Paralympics and qualified for the summer games in China. In Melissa’s words she has done more with one leg than she would have with two. The tragedy "hasn't changed my outlook much. I'm going to the Paralympics. I have a career (working for a prosthetics company).” A hidden talent was uncovered. Melissa did not take the attitude ‘If only’ I had two legs I could fulfill my dreams nor believe life was over unlike many who would have cried and complained to God if they were in such circumstances as this solider. Melissa is soaring higher than ever imagined all because she did see her disability as an inability to accomplish something new.

How about Mrs. Albernia Hardeman, an 85 year old dorm director who took one class per year since 1965 and finally obtained a BA in communication in 1985. You are not the first to ask why a woman at that age would get a degree she can’t do anything with. On the contrary Mrs. Hardeman never gave up on her dream regardless how long it took. If this regal woman in her golden years can accomplish her goals why can’t you?

Mary Price Walls

Now take a look at Mary Price Walls, whose application was rejected by University of Missouri all based on the color of her skin. Here is a woman who wanted to attend college and in her mind’s eye believed "I would have made a wonderful school teacher." Ms. Walls give the impression since the University of Missouri shut the door in her face she, substituted becoming an educator for a career as a janitor and elevator operator. Where there other institutions accepting minorities at that time? Of course, my mother and a host of her friends all obtained degrees and went on to higher levels of education at such institutions as Columbia University a decade earlier than Ms. Walls. So, did Mary Walls give up and allow one closed door opportunity turn into a deterrent? Yes.



The new crusade

For every tragedy or disappointment I believe God has an opportunity for you to succeed as a spokesman for Him. Bobby Tillman was randomly murdered. The Douglasville, Georgia teen was targeted by a group of boys because he was the ‘next person’ walking down the streets. Monique Rivarde lost her child for no probable cause. Unlike many parents who have faced such tragedy, this courageous mother is on a crusade since her son’s death. She has been seen attending and forming rallies in the name of Bobby. “If I can get through to one child, then I know my son's death was not in vain. Is Ms. Rivarde grieving? I’m sure she is. In spite of all the pain she is defying all odds by not sitting in a corner with dark shades questioning God. Bobby Tillman’s mother has chosen to step out and turn her tragedy into a victory not just for other parents but for Christ!

We can do all things through Christ that can strengthen us, make crooked paths straight and mount wings like eagles. 'If only' we believe in ourselves, trust in God and keep the faith of a mustard seed all aspirations can be accomplished provided we allow Jesus Christ to take control of our life. The next time the words ‘if only’ surface find the inner strength to keep pressing on in the name of Jesus Christ.
