The Strength of an Ox

Good Morning! 

I didn’t fully grasp the weight of this scripture until I revisited it recently. Suddenly, it felt incredibly relevant. Many people today are without work, while others feel chained to jobs that drain them. They are afraid to lift their heads, remove the blinders, and step out on faith to pursue the vision God has placed inside them. Whether it’s starting a business, launching a ministry, or developing the gifts God entrusted to you, this verse speaks to the tension between comfort and calling.

Proverbs 14:4 paints a vivid picture: a clean stable is comfortable, quiet, and easy to maintain but it’s also unproductive. Oxen bring mess, noise, responsibility, and work. Yet they also bring increase, harvest, and strength.

In other words: you can have comfort, or you can have increase but rarely both at the same time.

The “ox” becomes a metaphor for the things God calls us to embrace: faith, desire, willingness, courage, obedience, and work. Without these “oxen,” life stays neat and predictable, but empty of growth. With them, things may get messy - your schedule, your comfort zone, your routines - but that’s where increase is found.

Lord, give me courage to embrace the oxen You’ve placed in my life. Strengthen my faith and help me pursue the vision You’ve entrusted to me. Amen.

God is Like Wind

 

Good Morning! 

Experiencing God is much like experiencing the wind. We cannot see it with our eyes, yet we all acknowledge that it is real. Wind is woven into our daily lives; sometimes so gentle we barely notice it, like a soft summer breeze brushing against our skin. Other times, its presence is undeniable: the sharp sting of winter’s arctic blast, or the overwhelming force of tornadoes and hurricanes.

Wind is always there, whether we pay attention to it or not. And so is God.

Yet, just as we often forget about the wind until a storm rises, people often ignore or overlook God’s presence until life becomes turbulent. 

Scripture shows us this pattern clearly. In Isaiah 1:2–4, God calls out to His people who have forgotten Him. Some deny His existence altogether, like the one described in Psalm 14:1, while others simply do not understand who He is, as Paul observed in Acts 17:22–23, 30.

Still, whether we acknowledge Him or not, we are deeply connected to God just as every living thing is touched by the wind.

Just as wind can be felt in countless forms, God reveals Himself uniquely to each of us:

1. Through His Power

• Psalm 29:1–11 God’s voice thunders like a mighty storm, reminding us that His strength is unmatched.

2. Through Community and Care

• Galatians 6:2 We feel God’s presence when others carry our burdens.

3. Through Kindness

• Ephesians 4:32 Every act of compassion is a breeze of God’s character blowing through someone’s life.

The wind never stops moving, and neither does God. Even when we don’t feel Him. Even when we don’t acknowledge Him. Even when life is calm or when storms rage. God is present.

When your battery is dead

Good Morning! 

What’s the difference between a pessimist and a battery? 

A battery eventually recharges. A pessimist, on the other hand, drains energy—both their own and everyone around them. They often struggle to see joy, hope, or possibility.

But here’s the good news! God is not like a pessimist—He is like a battery.
He supplies power. He restores strength. He brings life back to places that feel drained or empty.

Just like batteries work by storing and releasing energy, God fills us with spiritual power and renews us from the inside out. When we plug into Him, we receive strength that doesn’t run out.

1. 🧠 Exercise — Strengthen Both Mind and Body

Just like physical exercise energizes the body, spiritual exercise energizes the soul. Study the Word daily. Stretch your faith. Move your body.

2. 🙌 Praise — Worship Is a Power Source

Praise shifts the atmosphere.
It lifts your spirit, breaks heaviness, and reconnects you to God’s presence.

“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” — Nehemiah 8:10

3. 💼 Work — Use Your Gifts and Talents

When you use the abilities God gave you, something powerful happens:
You feel alive. You feel purposeful. You feel accomplished.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” — Colossians 3:23

4. 😴 Sleep — Rest Is Holy Even Jesus rested.

You can’t pour from an empty cup, and you can’t run on a dead battery.

Quality rest frees your mind, restores your body, and resets your spirit.

“He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul.” — Psalm 23:2–3

5. 🌤️ Positive Thinking — Renew Your Mind

Your thoughts determine your energy.
Negativity drains. Faith-filled thinking fuels.

 

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2

When life drains you, remember: God is your power source. Plug into Him through His Word, worship, purposeful work, rest, and renewed thinking.
He is always ready to recharge you fully, completely, and consistently.

A Tree Without Fruit

Good Morning! 

A fruit tree is still a fruit tree even when it bears no fruit. So why did Jesus curse the fig tree when it had leaves? 

In Scripture, leaves signaled that figs should have been present. The tree advertised fruitfulness but offered nothing. It had the appearance of life without the evidence of it.

Many of us know this tension. We look the part. We are busy, spiritual, committed but inwardly we’re barren, out of season, or disconnected from the true Source. 

Jesus wasn’t simply condemning a tree; He was revealing the danger of spiritual unfruitfulness. 

To bear fruit in every season, we must be deeply rooted in God’s Word. Roots anchor us when life feels dry, when we feel overlooked, or when we’re “out of season.” Connection to Jesus, not circumstances produces fruit. Even in pruning seasons, when God cuts back what no longer serves us, He is preparing us for greater growth.

God has already filled you with a fruitful spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Yet how often do we set these aside? How often do our words contradict what God planted in us? We curse ourselves when we speak defeat, doubt, or limitation over our own actions. Our mouths can uproot what God is trying to grow.

The fig tree looked alive but produced nothing. Jesus called it what it was, the tree wasting space. That same question reaches us today: What are you doing with your fruit? Are you fruitful or fruitless?

Happy New Year! 

As we step into a new year, take a moment to breathe in God’s goodness. Last year held victories, losses, lessons, and unexpected turns and yet through it all, God’s grace and mercy covered you. 

You are here because God kept you, strengthened you, and carried you.

Scripture reminds us to “rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18). 

Gratitude isn’t about pretending everything was perfect; it’s about recognizing that God was present in every moment. What can you thank Him for today? What did He teach you, protect you from, or grow within you?

As you enter this new year, release what tried to hold you back. God speaks clearly: “Forget the former things… See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18–19). 

There is something ahead of you that requires your focus, your faith, and your willingness to move forward.

You are not stepping into the unknown alone. God has already prepared the path. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord… (Jeremiah 29:11). His plans are intentional, hopeful, and filled with purpose.

But to walk in what God has for you, you must stay connected to Him. “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). Make space for prayer. Open your Bible with expectation. Worship with a heart ready to receive. God is not distant — He is waiting to meet you.

This year, may you walk boldly, love deeply, trust fully, and seek God intentionally. He has something for you and it begins with drawing near.

Life is like baseball Don’t be afraid to swing or strikeout

Good Morning! 

We encounter both positive and negative situations in life. Approaching them differently can make a difference.

 Life can be likened to any sport on different levels. Achieving requires discipline, listening, and persevering. The outcome of the game can be determined by the athlete's 

methodologies. 

Baseball, for example. Every player, at some point in the game, must step up to Homeplate and take their turn. Each day in life is like a fresh start at Homeplate. We never know what pitch is going to be thrown at us - fastball, curveball, slider, or the deceptive knuckle ball.

Guess what?  To avoid striking out, we have two options: swing the bat or stand by and watch every pitch go by.  

So often we try to swing big aiming to hit a home run or grand slam. But we often overlook the fact that scoring runs in baseball is not solely dependent on hitting home runs. You can achieve the same runs by hitting singles, doubles and being diligent.

 In whatever you are facing or attempting, remember to be diligent, put in the necessary work, and never give up. If we don't, our appetite will never be filled, as Proverbs 13:4 reminds us of the sluggard's nature.

 

Rules govern our lives. To achieve our goals or desired outcome, we may either take shortcuts or resort to cheating. According to 2 Timothy 2:5, only those who abide by the rules can attain the victor's crown, just as athletes do in competition. In a God-like manner and for the glory of God, do all things.

 Fun is not associated with training only pain. Study your craft and train accordingly. Training in baseball can be painful; however, it is essential for achieving success. Discipline, as Hebrews 12:11 teaches, results in a harvest of righteousness and peace for individuals who undergo training.

 In life, do not grow weary. Keep your eye on the ball as you stand at Homeplate. Swing without fear. There will always be another turn at bat, even if you strike out. 

By consistently putting in effort and staying persistent, you will harvest success in due time with singles and doubles and scoring a winning run!

Good Morning!

There is nothing better than God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Nothing can compare to the love and grace of God. He is the source of all good things and the reason for our existence. 

When we take the time to build our relationship with God, strengthen our faith, and pray we will find God is forever present in due time. Also, by seeking God through repentance, we will find forgiveness. Through these continuous efforts, the reward can be salvation and eternal life.

 No matter what challenges or struggles you may face, you can find peace solace, and strength knowing that the Holy Trinity;  God the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit is always with us.  To many, this does not make sense, but truly knowing Jesus goes beyond man's logic. Knowing Jesus we know that He surpasses all understanding.

 

There is nothing better than God! Once realized here are just a few joyful takeaways:

 

1. Experience the overwhelming love and grace  - there's nothing better!

2. Let God be your guide and strength through all of life's challenges.

3. Don't just believe in Jesus, feel the power of His presence in your heart.

4. Let Jesus be the reason for your existence and the source of all good things.

5. Discover the true source of all good things and the reason for your existence!

6. Find forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life in the arms of Jesus.

7. No challenge or struggle is too big when you have Jesus by your side.

8. Let Jesus be the anchor of your life and experience the endless blessings He has in store for you.

Good Morning!

Every person has something they can be thankful for. As Christians, we are called by God to have an attitude of gratitude. Is it possible to be grateful for every aspect of our lives? Can we name your blessings, and count them one by one?

 

Though not intentional, we often focus on our "lack of"  instead of being grateful for what we have and what God has done. Although it may be difficult to express gratitude when faced with a negative doctor's report or job loss, it is important to find a way to give thanks. This gratitude comes from us knowing and understanding that God is in control of all things. For those who love God, it is important to remember that all things work together for good according to His purpose.

 

When looking at the big picture, certain things cannot be explained or credited to us. These are the ways that God has blessed us; unexpected opportunities, miraculous recoveries, and small acts of kindness from strangers. The reality is, that every one of us has something to be grateful for. There is always something to be thankful for, whether it’s our health, family, job, or even the little things like a hot cup of coffee in the morning.  So, when was the last time you took a moment to thank God?

 

So, what happens when we are not thankful for our blessings? It may seem harmless, but it leaves space for discontent. We tend to push people away, especially those who love and support us. Complaining, bitterness, and even jealousy of others can arise from being ungrateful. Being ungrateful can ultimately undermine your belief in God’s goodness. Opposed to our thoughts being on God’s loving-kindness, we will begin to focus on our discomfort which can lead to doubting God.

 

Every day, we have the opportunity to wake up to a new day, breathe fresh air, and thank God for the blessing. Even when his blessings may not be as desired, continue to find ways to thank God.

The refuge of God and his strength facing fear and life's troubles alone.

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. – Psalms 9:9

 Good Morning! 

Life is full of challenges and struggles, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed and fearful when facing troubles. We often try to face these moments on our own, relying on our strengths and abilities. But what if I told you that there is a refuge, a safe haven, where you can find strength and solace in the midst of life's storms? That refuge is God.

In the book of Psalms, we are reminded that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). It's easy to forget this truth when we are facing difficult situations. We may feel like we are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders, and we have no one to turn to. But God is always there, waiting for us to turn to Him and place our faith, hope, and trust in Him.

David, the author of many of the Psalms, understood this truth. He faced many trials and tribulations throughout his life, but he always turned to God for refuge and strength. In Psalm 46, David reminds us never to fear even when the earth is removed, and mountains are carried into the sea. This may seem like an impossible situation, but David's message is clear - when we place our trust in God, we have nothing to fear.

However, it's not always easy to trust in God when we are facing fear and troubles. We may say we trust Him, but when it comes down to it, do our actions truly reflect our words? Especially when we are faced with a situation that shakes us to the core. Like the three Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace.

Our faith has to be strong just as Abraham’s faith. Through every situation and encounter, Abraham had to learn to trust God at his word.  It was not overnight that this unwavering faith developed it took years. But as you read the trials of Abraham you see when he reached the mountain top of faith it did not waver.  He knew that God would provide, and he did not have to sacrifice his son.

Faith requires us to truly believe in God's power and goodness. We must remind ourselves that he is all-knowing and all-powerful, and nothing is impossible for him. When we put our faith in God, we release our worries and fears by putting our trust into his hands, even if we can't see it at that moment.

It's important to remember that trusting in God does not mean that we won't face struggles or pain in our lives. However, it does mean that we have a loving and powerful refuge to turn to when we need it most.  The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

The Power of Testimony: The Goodness of God in Your Life

Good Morning!

Testimony is a powerful tool that allows us to reflect on the goodness of God in our lives. It is a way for us to share our personal experiences and the impact that God has had on us. Whether we have faced struggles or triumphs, our testimony serves as a reminder of God's faithfulness and love, and it has the ability to inspire and encourage others in their own journey with God.  The power of testimony and how it can encourage others as well as strengthen faith and bring glory to God.

The power of testimony can have a significant impact on the beliefs, decisions, and actions of others. In many cases, a single testimony can have the power to change a person’s perspective on life as well as their belief in God.

 

As humans, we often get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives and it is easy to forget about the one constant in our lives – God's goodness.  Through God’s Grace and Mercy, He has also done wonders and miracles in each of our lives.  Whatever those wonders are in your life, they are the testimonies that need to be told to others. 

Testimony is reflecting on God's goodness. It is a way for believers to share their personal experience with God and how He has transformed their life and/or situation all for His Glory.  It is not just essential for spiritual growth but it is a reminder of God in all our lives and the Holy Spirit’s impact as well.

We are reminded in 1 Peter 3:15, which says, "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." We should always be ready to share a testimony with others. As Christians, our hope is found in Christ, and our testimony is a powerful way to share that hope with others.
